Workshop ORGANIZERS

SCOPE AND MOTIVATION

The rapid deployment of 5G technology has opened up new possibilities, but researchers and organizations are already looking ahead to the future with 6G, encompassing the metaverse as a pivotal aspect. Anticipated to emerge around 2030, 6G is expected to push the boundaries of cellular technology even further by integrating virtual reality, augmented reality, and immersive experiences into mobile networks. This workshop aims to explore the evolution from 5G to 6G, focusing on metaverse-related services, air interface enhancements, and network capabilities. Key research directions toward sustainable development goals and societal challenges will be discussed alongside a vision for the future with 6G and metaverse integration. Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, terahertz communications, blockchain, quantum communications, and metaverse capabilities will be explored to develop a robust 6G mobile wireless network architecture.

This workshop will delve into integrating the metaverse into future 6G mobile wireless networks, bridging the gap between real and virtual worlds. Discussions will encompass service advancements, air interface enhancements, and network capabilities, with a specific focus on metaverse-related technologies. Participants will explore how the metaverse can revolutionize communication, collaboration, and entertainment experiences. Additionally, the workshop will examine the potential applications of 6G and metaverse integration, addressing the challenges and opportunities in this emerging domain.
