Opportunities for Innovation in 5G and Beyond Networks using Open RAN, Edge, and Clou
Abstract: Innovation in 5G and beyond networks is elevated by emerging technologies like ORAN, Edge, and Cloud among others. The Open RAN (ORAN) is unlocking the monopoly in the telecom ecosystem. This tutorial will provide an overview of the ORAN ecosystem and give in-depth insights to be a contributor to this ecosystem. The session will cover a series of industry applications leveraging 5G, Edge, etc., and how these use cases ensure digital transformation in today's technology world. The tutorial will also discuss security challenges that need to be overcome in 5G with the help of ORAN. Data being a new oil in this era, this session will cover ways to secure data at different layers (application layer, physical layer, etc.) of a 5G network. The tutorial will throw light on the research, standardization, and career opportunities in the fields of ORAN, 5G, and related technologies.

Biography: Nishant Tiwari is Product Manager at Fujitsu Network Communications (Fujitsu Research of India Private Limited). He has received his Engineering degree from UPTU, Lucknow and Certification in New Product development, Strategic Management, valuation and creating sustainable value from IIM Bangalore, India. He has 16 years of in-depth expertise in product strategy, architecture, system engineering, and hands-on knowledge with technologies including 5G, 4G, 3G, 2G, CDMA, ORAN-RIC, SON, MEC, developing use cases and the Telco Cloud. Prior to Fujitsu, worked with several wireless equipment providers like Ericsson, Nokia, Huawei, Motorola, Cisco, Intel, Tejas etc., Software service providers like TCS & Wipro and with all major global MNOs such as AT&T, Sprint, Vodafone Germany- Netherlands, KPN Netherlands, DTAC Thailand, True Move Thailand, India MNOs. He is also a member of SDO’s like ORAN alliance, Telecom Infra Project, Data Security Council of India, and IEEE.

Biography: Shailesh Prabhu has over 6 years of research experience in 5G, Software Defined Networking, and Optical Wireless Communication. He has filed 10+ US patent applications in 5G-related domains including 7 granted patents. Shailesh has published 3 papers in International Conferences including ANTS 2019 and has also delivered tutorial sessions at premier IEEE conferences including ANTS 2020-2022, National Conference on Communication (NCC) 2019, hosted by IISc, Bangalore. He also has participated in global 5G solution showcases like Mobile World Congress 2019 held at Barcelona, India Mobile Congress 2019, etc. He graduated from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal in Electronics and Communication Engineering.
